4.11 Special Academic Appointments
Distinguished University Professor: The appointment of distinguished university professors is limited to faculty holding professor rank with exceptional achievements in their academic discipline and significant recognition beyond the university. Since this level of achievement will be rare, the title of distinguished university professor is reserved as a special honor bestowed by the Board of Trustees and is not considered a regular academic rank. Recommendations concerning appointment and reappointment reside with the dean of the appropriate college with the approval of the Vice President for Academic Affairs and President.
