4.16 Non-Renewal of Non-Tenured Faculty

Faculty members without tenure, both tenure track and non-tenure track, are appointed on a yearly basis. If a non-tenured faculty member is not to be offered a renewal of appointment for the next academic year, the University will make every reasonable effort to observe the following notification schedule, provided it can do so in the best interest of the institution:

• not later than March 1 of the first academic year of service;
• not later than the first week of January of the second academic year of service;
• at least twelve months before the expiration of an appointment after two or more years of service.
