3.5 Official Employment Agreements
When a final candidate has been selected, the search committee chair submits the candidate for approval in Interfolio. Approvals are entered by the respective dean or department manager and vice president; President; and Director of Human Resources. Upon approval, the dean or department manager will make a verbal offer of employment and submit an authorization form with the final offer details in the private Teams channel.
An offer of employment by Piedmont University is conditioned on the receipt of an acceptable background check. If the candidate accepts the verbal offer, a written employment agreement, signed by the President, is mailed (or emailed) to the candidate. The position is filled when the candidate signs and returns the agreement to the University.
Under the authority given by the Board of Trustees, the President shall, personally sign all employment offers and salary notices. Supervisory and management personnel are not authorized to enter into any employment offers or salary notices.

Under Piedmont University's drug testing policy, all current and prospective employees must submit to the drug testing policy. Prospective employees may be asked to submit to a test as a condition of employment if an offer has been extended and accepted. An offer of employment by Piedmont University is conditioned on the prospective employee testing negative for illegal substances.
