3.37 Consensual Relationship Policy
Piedmont University is committed to maintaining learning and work environments that are as free as possible from conflicts of interest and favoritism.
Piedmont University expressly prohibits consensual relationships between a faculty (including part-time) or staff member and any student (graduate and undergraduate); a supervisor and any employee he/she directly or indirectly supervises/manages within line of authority or a dually enrolled high school student.
Sexual or romantic relationships between students and faculty members are fraught with the potential for exploitation. In their relationships with students, members of the faculty are expected to be aware of their professional responsibilities and to avoid apparent or actual conflict of interest, favoritism, or bias.
All violations of this policy should be reported to Human Resources for investigation and appropriate administrative action, up to and including disciplinary action.
