7.1 Medical and Dental Benefits (Pre-Tax Basis)

The University offers a health plan to eligible employees and their families which provide medical, dental, and vision coverage. Eligible employees contribute a portion toward the cost of the premium for the medical, dental and vision plans with before-tax dollars. The employees’ portion is subject to change annually based on contract renewal rates. Employees and family members, who are eligible, may participate in the University health plan beginning the first day of the month following 30 days from the date of hire.

  1. Termination: Upon separation of employment, benefits will terminate on the last day of the month of termination.
    • A complete review and necessary adjustments will be reflected in the employee’s separation payroll check.
    • Terminated employees covered under the University’s health benefit may elect for healthcare coverage through the Cobra Benefit Plan. Complete details are discussed during the exit interview with Human Resources.
  2. Rehire: Upon re-hire, no prior service time will be credited to your official employment benefit record regarding health plan eligibility.
