BUSA 4852 Club Management

This course will introduce students to the marketing and management of tourism and special events with emphasis on experiential marketing. Students will examine the techniques and methods used to plan, organize, promote and manage local and regional tourism and special events.

Student Learning Outcomes

At the successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Identify the differences in city clubs and country clubs.
  2. Read and demonstrate good comprehension of text in areas of successfully developing a marketing plan for a club.
  3. Demonstrate the ability to identify the specific skills that are needed for club management positions.
  4. Successfully navigate the CMAA website and identify all available resources.
  5. Identify ten relevant certifications that can be earned in the club management industry.
  6. Develop a preventative maintenance program for a club.
  7. Develop a marketing plan to attract new members.
  8. Identify the reasons why members want to join a club.
  9. Develop the steps that a club must take in hosting a golf tournament.
  10. Clearly identify the membership classifications in a club.
  11. Demonstrate the questions that must be addressed when planning a special event at a club.
  12. Identify the challenges that clubs will face in the future and the possible solutions.
  13. Identify the laws that are unique to the club industry.
  14. Select five up to date articles that are relevant to the class.
