2.0 University Organization
The Board of Trustees
Under the charter of Piedmont University, control of the university is vested in the corporation known as the Board of Trustees of Piedmont University. Each year, the board elects an Executive Committee, which includes the President of the University and the Chairman of the Board. (Policy Section 10, Board of Trustees Bylaws.)
The Central Administration
The President is the chief executive officer of the university and has general oversight of all university operations. Reporting to the President are the Senior Vice President for Administration & Finance, Vice President for Academic Affairs, Vice President for Enrollment Management, Vice President for Student Life and Leadership, Vice President for University Advancement, Director of Intercollegiate Athletics, Director of The Lillian E. Smith Center, and the Campus Minister.
The Vice President for Academic Affairs is the chief academic officer with responsibility for coordination of the academic affairs areas of the university. Reporting to the Vice President for Academic Affairs are the Academic Deans, the Dean of Libraries and the Registrar.
The Senior Vice President for Administration & Finance provides oversight of the financial operations and administrative services, including Human Resources, Controller’s Office, Information Technology, Facilities Management, Safety, Strategic Planning Initiatives, Institutional Effectiveness and Institutional Research and the Athens Campus. Reporting to the Senior Vice President for Administration & Finance is the Chief Information Officer, Assistant Vice President of Facilities Management and Safety; Associate Vice President and Controller; Senior Director for Strategic Initiatives, Effectiveness, and Assessment; Director of Human Resources; Director of Financial Aid and Director of Administrative Services, Athens Campus.
The Vice President for University Advancement provides overall leadership for fundraising, alumni, marketing, and communications. Reporting to the Vice President for Advancement are the Associate Vice President of Marketing and Communication; Assistant Vice President for Development and Alumni Affairs; Director of Alumni Engagement and Development; and Manager, Advancement Services and Foundation Relations.
The Vice President for Enrollment management is responsible for Undergraduate and Graduate Enrollment. Reporting to the Vice President for Enrollment Management are the Director of Undergraduate Admissions and the Director of Graduate Admissions.
The Vice President for Student Life and Leadership has responsibility for Residential Living, Counseling and Career Services, and Student Life and Leadership. Reporting to the Vice President for Student Development are the Director of Student Life and Leadership, Director of Residential Living, and Director of Career Services.
The Faculty
The faculty of the university consists of full-time faculty, part-time faculty, administrative officers and staff of the university who have academic rank, and other persons such as Fellows and Senior Fellows as may be recommended by the Vice-President for Academic Affairs and approved by the President. The voting members of the faculty share with the university administration and the Board of Trustees responsibility for the academic and extracurricular programs of the University.
