Undergraduate Catalog 2021-2022

Academic Advisement

The university is committed to the developmental model of academic advising. As such, advising is viewed as a partnership of shared responsibility between the student and advisor, with the advising process as an extra-classroom, teaching-learning experience that emphasizes the importance of personal and social factors that contribute to the quality of the student’s academic experience and the achievement of life goals.

Upon entering the University, a student is assigned either a freshman advisor or a major advisor, depending on class standing and declaration of a major. The advisor works with the student not only in the choice of courses and with academic matters in general, but also to ensure a rich and rewarding educational experience that will lead to the fullest realization of a student’s potential as an individual.
