EDUC 4498 Student Behaviors and Teacher Dispositions

Often in behavior and classroom management courses only student behavior is analyzed. Teacher behavior can escalate or de-escalate situations with students, stakeholders, and colleagues. It can also impact teacher effectiveness and retention. The purpose of this class is to explore relationship between student and teacher behaviors and develop effective professional classroom and career skills. Candidates will explore behavior, attitude, initiative, respect, conflict, positive learning environment, communication, and law. Each topic will be covered for two weeks and will alternate from an examination of students' behaviors and dispositions to an examination of teachers. Real life scenarios will be used for class discussions and will focus on multiple points of view including those of stakeholders and administrators.
