The Clery Act

Originally known as the Campus Security Act, the Jeanne Clery Disclosure Of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (20 USC 1092(f)) is a landmark federal law requiring colleges and universities across the United States to disclose information about crime on and around their campuses. All colleges and universities must:

• Criminal Homicide
• Sex Offenses
• Robbery
• Aggravated Assault
• Burglary with evidence of unlawful entry
• Burglary with intent to commit a felony theft
• Motor Vehicle Theft
• Arson

Publish an Annual Security Report (ASR) by October 1st to include Clery Act crimes and report statistics for the following categories of arrest or referrals for campus disciplinary action:

• Liquor and Drug Law Violations
• Illegal Weapon Possession
