Music, B.A.

All music majors, with the exception of keyboard majors, are required to enroll in class piano every semester (MUSC 1171, MUSC 1172, MUSC 1173, MUSC 1174) until they have satisfied the departmental piano proficiency requirement. All keyboard majors must enroll in Piano Class V MUSC 1175 and pass an advanced piano proficiency exam. Majors are also required to attend recitals and concerts and satisfactorily complete a recital previously approved by the music faculty. This concentration is strongly suggested for those students wishing to pursue the Master of Arts in Teaching program.

MUSC 2300: This course also satisfies general education requirements and appear in the number of hours for both general education and the major; in reality, music majors may have up to 21 additional hours to use for electives. Students may use elective hours to earn a minor or another major, as well as to develop additional marketable skills. The number of elective hours students may take will depend on which concentration they select and on the courses taken to satisfy general education requirements.
